Products are purposely developed with the future in mind. Several years ago, Cisco developed a plan to focus specifically on Data Center infrastructure referring to it as “Data Center 3.0”. From what was learned thru this endeavor, Cisco then decided to enter the server market. They branded their server as the Unified Computing System (UCS).
Data Center solutions focus on consolidation, virtualization, and automation. These three keys enable the modern Data Center to be more energy efficient, aid with business continuity, and improve workforce productivity. The Unified Computing System streamlines data center resources and allows you to reduce your total cost of ownership. Some people term this as “Cisco is now making servers” but in reality, it is much more than that. The UCS solution involves both compute nodes (i.e. blade servers) and rack-mount servers and provides more of a complete and consolidated server architecture that is easy to manage.
Sovran has embraced Cisco’s UCS platforms and integrated them into our current product offerings.
In this seminar we will cover:
- An overview of the Data Center network infrastructure components
o Data Center switching
o Storage Networking
o Application Networking Solutions
o Security Solutions
- The Unified Computing System Architecture
o Blade-series and rack-mount series servers
o Extended memory configurations
o Fabric Interconnects and Fabric Extenders
o UCS Manager
The intended audience is:
- Anyone looking at data center and server consolidation technologies
- Existing data center managers looking to compare their infrastructure to Cisco’s offering
- Existing Cisco customers looking at extending their existing infrastructure into the data
center
** Please note that there will be a UCS/VMware-focused seminar immediately following this seminar. Attendees are welcome to sign up for one or both of the seminars.
